Why Wallbox Pulsar owners need LadeKosten

With over one million units sold worldwide, the Wallbox Pulsar is one of the most popular EV chargers on the planet. It is compact, reliable, and backed by a solid cloud platform. But while the myWallbox app shows you session data, it does not help you figure out what your charging actually costs or prepare that information for your tax return.

That is where LadeKosten comes in. By connecting to the Wallbox Cloud API, LadeKosten pulls your session data and turns it into actionable cost information. You see exactly how much each charge costs, how your monthly spending trends, and you get export-ready reports for tax deduction purposes.

If you charge your company EV at home, you already know how tedious it is to document your electricity costs manually. LadeKosten eliminates that hassle entirely.

How the integration works

The Wallbox Pulsar connects to the internet through your home WiFi and syncs all charging data to the Wallbox cloud. LadeKosten taps into this cloud data using the official Wallbox API with JWT (JSON Web Token) authentication.

When you sign in with your Wallbox account, the app obtains a secure authentication token. This token is used for all subsequent API calls, so your username and password are only needed once during setup. The token refreshes automatically in the background.

LadeKosten periodically checks for new charging sessions and downloads the details: energy consumed, charging duration, peak power, and timestamps. The app then applies your configured electricity rate to calculate the precise cost of each session.

Because this is a cloud-based integration, it works regardless of whether your phone is on your home WiFi. You can check your charging data from anywhere.

Supported models

The Wallbox Cloud API covers the entire Wallbox product range. LadeKosten will support:

  • Wallbox Pulsar Plus - The best-selling model with up to 22 kW and Power Boost compatibility. Full session tracking and cost calculation.
  • Wallbox Pulsar Max - The latest generation with built-in MID meter and dynamic power sharing. All features supported.
  • Wallbox Commander 2 - The premium model with a built-in touchscreen. Same cloud API, same LadeKosten features.
  • Wallbox Quasar 2 - The bidirectional charger for Vehicle-to-Home (V2H). LadeKosten tracks both charging and discharging sessions.
  • Wallbox Copper SB - The semi-public charger for shared parking. Session tracking per user via RFID identification.

Any Wallbox charger that appears in your myWallbox account will be available in LadeKosten.

Setting up Wallbox with LadeKosten

The setup process is straightforward. Open LadeKosten, go to the wallbox setup screen, and choose Wallbox from the list of supported brands. You will be prompted to enter your myWallbox credentials.

After authentication, LadeKosten fetches your list of registered chargers. Select the one you want to track, and the initial sync begins. The app imports your existing session history so you have a complete picture from day one.

Configure your electricity rate per kWh, and LadeKosten immediately calculates the cost for every session in your history. If your rate has changed over time, you can set date-specific rates so older sessions are priced correctly too.

From this point on, everything is automatic. Charge your car, and the session shows up in LadeKosten with the cost calculated. No manual logging, no spreadsheets, no forgetting to write things down.

Feature highlights

Cloud sync from anywhere - Because the integration uses the Wallbox cloud, you can check your charging costs even when you are not at home. Traveling for work? You can still see if your car finished charging and what it cost.

Historical data import - LadeKosten does not just start tracking from today. It pulls in your entire charging history from the Wallbox cloud, so you can analyze costs retroactively.

Precise cost calculation - The Wallbox Pulsar's built-in energy meter provides accurate kWh readings. Combined with your electricity rate in LadeKosten, you get cost figures you can trust and submit with your tax filing.

Multi-charger support - If you have a Wallbox at home and another at your office, or if you share a charger with a partner, LadeKosten tracks each charger separately with individual cost calculations.

Tax documentation exports - Generate monthly or yearly reports that show each charging session with date, energy, and cost. These exports are formatted for German tax requirements and make your Steuererklaerung significantly easier.

Power Boost awareness - If your Wallbox uses Power Boost to dynamically adjust charging power based on your home's electricity consumption, LadeKosten captures the actual energy delivered regardless of power fluctuations.

What to expect from the planned integration

We are actively developing the Wallbox integration and testing it against the Wallbox Cloud API. The goal is a zero-configuration experience: sign in, select your charger, and everything works.

Key areas we are focusing on include reliable session sync with minimal delay, accurate handling of interrupted or resumed sessions, and robust token management so you never have to re-authenticate manually.

If you own a Wallbox Pulsar and want to be among the first to try the integration, join the LadeKosten waitlist. You will get early access as soon as the feature is ready for testing.
