Why Charge Amps owners will love ChargeDoc
Charge Amps is the premium choice in Scandinavian EV charging. The Swedish company is known for award-winning design, solid build quality, and chargers that look more like a piece of modern art than a utilitarian box on the wall. The Charge Amps Halo, with its distinctive circular design, has become an icon in the EV charging world.
But beautiful hardware deserves equally smart software. While the Charge Amps app gives you basic session data, it does not translate that into the cost information you need for budgeting or tax purposes. ChargeDoc will bridge that gap.
By connecting to the Charge Amps Cloud API, ChargeDoc will pull your session data and turn energy readings into clear, actionable cost figures. Every session will get a price tag based on your actual electricity rate, and the data will be ready for tax documentation.
How the integration will work
Charge Amps chargers connect to the internet via your home WiFi or Ethernet, syncing all session data to the Charge Amps Cloud. ChargeDoc will access this data through the official cloud API using a combination of OAuth2 authentication and an API key.
The OAuth2 layer handles your identity verification securely, while the API key provides an additional layer of access control. This dual-authentication approach is a sign of Charge Amps' enterprise-grade security mindset, and ChargeDoc will work seamlessly within it.
Once authenticated, ChargeDoc will read your session history including energy consumed, session duration, timestamps, and charger identification. The app will apply your electricity rate to calculate per-session costs and aggregate the data into useful overviews.
Because this will be a cloud integration, your data will be accessible from anywhere. You will not need to be on your home WiFi to check your charging costs or generate reports.
Planned models
Charge Amps offers three charger models, all of which will be supported:
- Charge Amps Halo - The flagship residential charger with its iconic circular design. Up to 22 kW charging power, built-in energy meter, and WiFi/Ethernet connectivity. Full session tracking in ChargeDoc is planned.
- Charge Amps Aura - The commercial and semi-public charger designed for workplaces, hotels, and multi-unit buildings. Supports RFID authentication and multiple simultaneous users. ChargeDoc will track your individual sessions.
- Charge Amps Dawn - The compact, cost-effective option for simple residential installations. Same cloud connectivity and same planned ChargeDoc compatibility as the premium models.
All three models connect to the Charge Amps Cloud platform, so the integration will work identically across the range.
Setting up Charge Amps with ChargeDoc
You will open ChargeDoc and go to the wallbox setup. Select Charge Amps from the list of supported brands. You will be guided through the OAuth2 authentication flow, which involves signing in with your Charge Amps Cloud account.
After authentication, ChargeDoc will fetch your registered chargers. Select the one you want to track. If you have multiple chargers, you will be able to add them all and track each separately.
Set your electricity price per kWh, and the app will immediately calculate costs for your synced session history. Going forward, new sessions will appear automatically as they are completed.
The entire process will take about three minutes. Authentication tokens will be managed automatically, so you should not need to sign in again unless you explicitly disconnect the integration.

Dual authentication security - The OAuth2 plus API key approach means your data will be protected by two layers of security. ChargeDoc will never store your Charge Amps password.
Multi-site tracking - Have a Halo at home and an Aura at your workplace? ChargeDoc will manage multiple chargers under one account with separate cost tracking for each location.
RFID session attribution - In shared installations using RFID cards, ChargeDoc will identify your sessions accurately. Only your charging will be tracked and costed.
Detailed session history - Every session will include start time, end time, energy consumed, peak power, and calculated cost. Drill into any session for the full details.
Tax documentation - Export your charging costs as formatted reports suitable for German tax filing. Company EV drivers will be able to document their home charging expenses with confidence.
Load balancing transparency - Charge Amps' dynamic load balancing adjusts power distribution across chargers in real time. ChargeDoc will capture the actual energy your car received, not the theoretical maximum, so costs will always be accurate.

Authenticate with your Charge Amps account
Once the integration is available, open ChargeDoc and select Charge Amps. Sign in with your Charge Amps Cloud account credentials. The app will authenticate via OAuth2 and API key for secure, reliable access.
Select your charge point
You will pick the Charge Amps charger you want to track from your registered devices. ChargeDoc will pull in the charger model and name so you can identify it easily.
Automatic cost tracking starts
ChargeDoc will sync your charging sessions from the Charge Amps cloud and calculate costs based on your electricity rate. Historical sessions will be imported for a complete picture.

Which Charge Amps models will be supported?

How will ChargeDoc handle Charge Amps' load balancing?
Charge Amps uses dynamic load balancing to share power across multiple chargers. ChargeDoc will read the actual energy delivered to your specific charge point, so your cost calculation will be accurate regardless of how power was distributed across the installation.
